It’s not a long time since I was in the US for a conference, and soon I’ll have the opportunity to meet many companies down in the Silicon Valley once again.
Some of them are already well known on this blog, others are newcomers, but the great news is that I will collect a lot of useful informations during every meeting and will share them on the blog.
The list is longer than usual and all the companies mentioned are developing solutions focused on the hottest topics of the industry: SSD storage, Big Data and Cloud!

Last week I met Ed Saipatech and Bryan Cantrill at Joyent’s new HQ in San Francisco.

Some days ago Isilon (now an EMC company) announced a new feature, in addition to existing options, for their storage solutions: HDFS support. This is a great move that I like very much but with a little reservation.
Storage vendors are working hard to take a step forward by bringing data closer to the computational power. In this moment EMC is leading the pack (the other announcement they made last week is project lightning: a flash cache on servers tightly integrated with their storage), but it’s clear that it is only a matter of time: I’m sure that other primary vendors will release...
