Next week I’ll be traveling to San Francisco and the Silicon Valley for the IT Press Tour. You could say that’s nothing new as I’m very often in the US but it’s always fun and interesting meeting companies, getting the insights and latest news first hand.

Here are the companies I’m going to meet, so expect some articles next month:

Cloudera: Big Data. One of the most famous Hadoop distributions.
Cloudian: Object storage. A category of products that I like and know very well. I recently wrote a white paper for them.
Diablo Technologies: Flash storage. Inventors of the technology that allow to use flash memory in DDR3/4 DIMMS. It’s always good meeting them.
Elasticsearch: Search/Analytics. I have to admit that I’m curious… But it’s not my field.
Exablox: Scale-out storage. I know they have some interesting news.
Nimble storage: Hybrid storage. I have published an article about them a few days ago, but it will be interesting to talk about the new FC support.
ObjectiveFS: POSIX compliant Cloud Filesystem. Interesting on paper, very curious to hear more.
Platfora: Big Data. A name that I’ve already heard… but, again, not my field.
Platform9: Cloud. really interesting approach to Openstack (and founded by former VMware employees). can’t wait.
Primary Data: Storage virtualization(?). Very well funded, a team full of superstars but I haven’t got a clue what they really do… the website is really crypto-marketish. Can’t wait to go deeper into the tech part
Qubole: Big data analytics. Once again, a lot of curiosity.
Spanning: SaaS backup and recovery. Recently acquired by EMC, interesting idea, curious to see the implementation (and future developments).

That’s all for now, it’s time to pack my bags. And expect some tweets with the #ITPT hashtag.
