VMware has changed its licensing model again, this time after listening (for real) to its end users.

The news

We, and many others, wrote (here) our criticism and concerns on the ex-new licensing model and I think that this news is the best and promptest answer that VMware could have done.
Now, all the vRAM entitlements are increased (sometimes doubled), reducing or, in most cases, eliminating the problem to buy an “abnormal” number of licenses. The revised licensing models also adds some more minor enhancement to calculate the needed licenses on annual average use instead of monthly spikes! (very good for test and development environments)

Bottom line

It is always a pleasure when a vendor listen to its (loyal) customers and I think that, contrary to what I wrote some days ago, definitely VMware isn’t becoming the new Oracle!
